Review by hotel critic
Formal Review of Oakerthorpe CottageDuring my recent four-night stay at Oakerthorpe Cottage, I was impressed by its strategic location within moments of Black Rocks, an excellent base for exploring the Peak District's attractions, including Matlock Bath and Bakewell. the cottage itself was impeccably clean, with facilities that met our group's needs, including a flat-screen television for evening relaxation and free Wi-Fi in public areas. While I appreciated the spacious sitting area and dining table for family meals, the narrow, straight stairs could be challenging for older guests; my grandson managed fine on the upper floor, but I'd recommend considering this aspect if accessibility is a concern. Complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities were a welcome touch after long days of hiking. Parking was straightforward, and we found ample space on the street. Local dining options were within convenient driving distance. Oakerthorpe Cottage offers a balanced blend of comfort and value, making it a viable option for our next return to the area. I would certainly recommend it to other travelers.
